Over 18 million people have so far seen the ship. The Vasa Museum is Scandinavia's most visited museum, in competition with world-renowned museums such as Louisiana near Copenhagen.
Our visitors
Are you a 41-year-old man or woman who lives in Sweden, Germany, USA, Russia, Spain or any other country? Then you are the typical visitor of the Vasa Museum.
It is difficult to talk about "ordinary" visitors at the Vasa Museum. But we do still try. Over the years we have conducted audience research at the Vasa Museum. Certain trends can be discerned - that more and more visitors are coming from abroad for each year that passes, or that the average age is somewhere between 37 and 42 years.
The latest survey shows that the average visitor is 41 years. Half of the visitors are women, half men. And so has the distribution been during the last few years.
Visitors from abroad
We want the visitors from all countries to feel welcome, and we strive for a hosting on a world-class level. Due to this, we offer guided tours and information in multiple languages.
20 percent of our visitors live in Sweden, 80 percent come from abroad.
Germany and USA are tied for second in terms of proportion of visitors. 13 percent come from Germany. 13 percent from the USA.
A rapidly growing group is from Russia. In just one year the proportion of 3 increased to 7.5 percent. So more than twice.
We are also popular among the Spanish visitors. 6 percent of the visitors in the most recent study were from Spain.
