Good to know A-Z

Things that may be helpful to know when you plan your visit, for example, that we have informaton sheets in 15 languages and that it is permitted to take photos for private purposes in the museum.

  • Toilets: Toilets are located on the entrance level behind the information desk and at the stern of the ship on floor three.
  • Baby care room: A baby care room is located on the entrance level.
  • Baby strollers: Baby strollers are permitted in the museum.
  • Bus parking: The Vasa Museum's bus parking is at the front of the museum.
  • Cloakroom: An area for hanging coats is situated on the entrance level next to the information desk. (Do not leave your valuables!)
  • Companion dogs: No pets are allowed, with the exception of guide- and hearing dogs.
  • Companions: Visitors who require assistance in reading texts and/or object labels may bring a companion at no extra charge.
  • Currencies: The Museum shop and the ticket office accept payments in the following currencies: Norwegian and Danish Crowns, Euros, American Dollars and British Pounds. Please note that only bills are accepted, no coins. The change is given in Swedish Crowns.
  • Group visits: Advance reservations are recommended for all groups of 10 or more adults, or 10 or more students with chaperones.
  • Guided tours: A guided tour around the museum for individuals is included in the ticket price. In the summertime, the guided tours start every hour.
    Groups larger than 10 should book their own guide.

  • Informations sheets: Free museum information sheets in 15 languages (Swedish, English, German, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Finnish, Russian, Estonian, Polish, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic) are available next to the information desk. 
  • Lifts: There are three lifts which are situated by the main stairs on the starboard and port sides (aft) of the ship as well as one between the main and small auditorium. Two of the lifts provide access to all levels.
  • Limited parking for disabled users: is available in the museum's forecourt. Please leave your vehicle details visible.
  • Lost and found: Inquire at the Information Desk about lost belongings, if something is left behind at the museum, or call +46 8 519 558 10.
  • Luggage restrictions: Large rucksacks or suitcases are not allowed inside the museum. Some limited provision for storage of luggage is available at the lockers by the information desk.
  • Parking: A car park is situated close to the museum.
  • Photography: Photography (cameras, video equipment) for private purposes is permitted in the museum.
  • Picnic area: There are picnic tables on the entrance level.
  • Wheelchairs: The museum is wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available on request for use by visitors. Please ask at the information desk for assistance.
