Tracing the cannons

The search for the Vasa cannon continues in England as researcher Ruth Rhynas Brown is put to the task. Records show that some of Vasa’s cannon were in fact exported and Swedish cannon were received by British tradesmen in the 1660ies.

Third survey in Stockholm harbour

September saw the third tour in Stockholm harbour in search for the missing Vasa cannon. It took place on the high-tech research boat Electra, owned by Stockholm University.

More objects found

Yet another search was conducted end of May from the ship Belos, owned by the Swedish marine. Ninety-one objects in total were found in the area and some of them might belong to Vasa. Lots of rubbish and modern day items, but also interesting pieces of wood.

Sonar survey analysis

Despite optimistic articles in the Swedish press about findings of a Vasa cannon in Stockholm harbour, it’s not yet a fact. The results from the sonar survey need to be properly analysed first.
