The Museum

Vasa has not always been housed such splendour. From her salvaging in 1961 until 1988 Vasa's home was a 27-year long temporary one at the Wasavarvet Museum.

The Power and the Glory

In The Power and the Glory, we get a glimpse of what Vasa’s colours really looked like when the ship sailed out of Stockholm’s harbour. Like the hull of Vasa, the sculptures today have a dark brown colour shaped by time underwater and conservation efforts. But research shows a very different picture of the ship. Vasa sparkled with color!  

Getting here

The Vasa Museum is situated at Galärvarvsvägen 14, Djurgården, Stockholm. There are several ways to get to this museum island and national city park. Welcome! Tram line 7 is currently experiencing traffic disruptions and due to this it is good to add a little extra time for the journey or take the ferry instead.
