From the raising 1961 to today - come along and see highlights of the work with preserving Vasa and how

The Power and the Glory

In The Power and the Glory, we get a glimpse of what Vasa’s colours really looked like when the ship sailed out of Stockholm’s harbour. Like the hull of Vasa, the sculptures today have a dark brown colour shaped by time underwater and conservation efforts. But research shows a very different picture of the ship. Vasa sparkled with color!

Vasa's new support

The warship Vasa needs a new support structure. The support structure that has been holding Vasa since the 1960s needs to be replaced, as it is damaging the ship and causing deformations in the hull. This due to the weakening of the ship’s wood. The entire support structure will be replaced over the course of several years, starting in April 2024. The new support structure is based on many years of research
