Pop Up Display at #vasamuseet can occur almost anywhere, anytime and on any subject. Today it was about Stockholm around 1628 and places connected to Vasa.
Pop Up-presentationer kan, just, poppa upp närsomhelst och handla om nästan vad som helst. Idag var det Vasaanknutna platser i det gamla Stockholm.

The dokumentation of objects from the Vasa is a constantly ongoing job. They are getting studied and recorded in great detail by our documentation team. This is a decorative feature from the ships great cabin. You can visit our documentation team at the front of the ship! #vasamuseum #vasaship

Dokumentationen av Vasas föremål pågår ständigt! Det här är en så kallad hermpilaster, som dekorerat kajutan ombord! Du kan besöka vårat forskningsteam framför skeppet!

Welcome to the Vasa Museum Garden. Take a walk back in time among the vegetables, medicinal herbs and flowers that were a feature of gardens in the 1600s.
The Vasa Museum Garden is home to a wide variety of flowers, medicinal herbs and vegetables, many of which can be found in gardens today. In the 17th century lavender, mallow, radishes and cabbage were just as common as they are now.

No chemical pesticides are used in the garden. Instead plants with good resistance to disease and vermin, for example marigolds, are cultivated. Bio-carbon is used in the soil to help it better retain water and nutrients. The many flowers are pretty to look at but also good for pollination.

A small exhibition inside the museum explores the connection between the garden and Vasa ship. The garden lies behind a grey fence at the back of the Vasa Museum.
A visit to the Vasa Museum garden is free of charge. You are welcome to come in for a rest or get some inspiration for your own plot.

COLOURFUL. When Vasa was raised, the hull and its decorations were all brownish black after centuries under water, but the newly built Vasa had been brightly coloured. All of the sculptures were painted in vibrant hues and many details or even whole sculptures were gilded. The paint and gilding remains on the original sculptures are now covered in conservation chemicals, which gives the ship a waxy, dark brown colour, but replicas in the exhibitions show how they looked in 1628.
